INTRODUCTION:

The practice of honouring God with the first fruits of our increase is deeply significant. It certainly is one of the most pragmatic way of demonstrating, firstly, our total love for and dependence on God; and secondly, securing divine increase and protection.

TEXT: Proverbs 3:9

“Honour the Lord by giving Him the first fruit of all your income and He will fill your barns with wheat and barley and overflow your wine vats with the finest wines.” The Living Bible

Honour God with everything you own: Give Him the first and the best and your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over.” The Message

A number of important significances of first fruits are found in the following scriptures:

Deuteronomy 26:1-11

  1. Establishes God as your source – Vs. 1

  3. Testifies of God’s goodness and fulfilled promise – Vs. 3b
  4. Honours the priority of God in your life – Vs. 2a

Proverbs 3:9-10
